About Dave
From early mornings in the stand to guiding remote hunts deep in Alberta’s backcountry, the outdoors has always been where I feel at home. Taking over Predator vs Prey Outfitting lets me share that passion with others—offering hunters record-book opportunities and the unforgettable experience of Alberta’s remote wilderness.
Our Story
Predator vs Prey Outfitting was officially established in 2011, but the history of our hunting grounds runs much deeper. The bait sites we operate today have been in use since the 1970s, producing countless record-book black bears and unforgettable encounters.
In 1986, Mr. Dan Hungle took over the territory and continued developing these same sites. His experiences inspired the 2017 book The Bears Are Calling—a collection of stories about trophy harvests and heart-pounding bear encounters that happened right where we still hunt today.
Guided by Passion
Hunting has always been a central part of my life, and Predator vs Prey is where I share that passion with others. I focus on creating authentic, wilderness hunts that combine personal attention, adventure, and the pursuit of mature, trophy-class animals.
Our Philosophy
We are a young, high-energy team committed to more than just great hunts. We believe in educating our hunters about the vital role that hunting plays in conservation, ensuring that Alberta’s wilderness and wildlife remain healthy for generations to come.
What We Offer
Whether you’re after a spring black bear hunt or a rifle rut moose hunt, we guide in remote Alberta territory where adventure still feels wild and untamed. From the moment you arrive until the hunt is over, our goal is to share not just a hunt—but a complete wilderness experience.
Our Hunt Camps
Our wall tent camps are located deep in the northern Alberta wilderness, positioned directly within the areas you’ll be hunting. This offers one of the greatest advantages of our outfitting experience — the ability to stay right in the heart of prime wildlife country, far from the busier lodge areas.
Each camp is fully equipped to provide both comfort and convenience in a true backcountry setting. We supply full electrical hookups powered by generators, propane on-demand hot water shower systems, and large, spacious canvas wall tents. Inside, you’ll find thick foam cots and wood-burning stoves to ensure a warm and restful night’s sleep, no matter the conditions.
Our camps also feature complete kitchen facilities, including barbecues, ovens, microwaves, refrigerators, and freezers. Guests enjoy hearty, home-cooked meals prepared fresh each day — the perfect way to refuel after a rewarding day in the field.
While our camps deliver an authentic wilderness experience, they are designed with a level of comfort and care that makes your stay both rustic and remarkably accommodating. The wall tent camp truly combines the best of both worlds — the adventure of the backcountry with the comfort of home.
